TWiT 34: Leoless

Patrick Norton, Amber MacArthur, John C. Dvorak, Roger Chang, David Prager, and Robert Heron TWiT 34 is on the air. I'm out of town so the TWiTs are running their own show. Thanks to the Pixel Corps for the audio and video production on this week's extravaganza. Audio: Main feed courtesy those cool cats (and TWiTheads) at AOL Radio BitTorrent - four flavors, no waiting (enhanced AAC is delayed and will be posted later this week). Video: Via our Broadcast Machine BitTorrent tracker (iPod compatible available now, H.264 on its way - stand by)

Topics:

  • Amber gives us the scoop on the Women In Technology International
  • Conference, where she's not the only woman around that knows what a
  • blog is!
  • Dvorak can't believe ICANN didn't go for the .XXX domain system. Again. Displays a near total lack of pr0n knowledge compared to Robert.
  • Intel admits AMD may be gaining!
  • People can blog nice things about their former company... at least if they're former Google brand and marketing managers
  • Podcasting is the word of year for 2005 according to the New Oxford America Dictionary, over rootkit and some other words that look like the staffers there just skimmed over the past few months tech headlines.
  • Google releases transit planner. Nobody but Patrick cares.
  • NBC signs on with iTunes
  • Check out Windows Live Local: definitely one ups Google for now.
  • AJAX is everywhere, and Amber has quite the list of sites to check out: start.com, live.com, and her personal fave, protopage.com, which more customization that most. And then there's Flock
  • Yesh, John, eBay owns 25% of Craigslist.org. Only 25%.
  • MacGuyver moment #1,356,569: you can turn spark plug ceramics into crack pipes. And people might just write hysterial craigslist letters to you. Check it out, but we warn you, there's some naughty language... along with one of the best gripes ever: "YOU ARE A CRACKHEAD. WHY DON'T YOU OWN A CRACKPIPE?"
  • BTW, bash.org is the Quote Database Home
  • VirtualDub is a fascinating free open source video tool that's used by lots of pros. Or at least by Roger and Patrick
  • The problem w/ some new televisions is that you might have to reboot them. Blue Screen of Death, indeed.
  • FullHD is just annoying. Tho it should look beautiful... if there's ever any content.
