What's A Podcast?
Podcasting is a great new way of distributing audio automatically. When a site (like this) offers a podcast feed you can subscribe to the feed using podcasting software and any new items will be automatically downloaded to your computer. As the name implies, if you have a portable audio player, the files can also be copied to the player.
However, and this is a common area of confusion, no iPod or other MP3 player is required. You can listen to the audio on your computer just as you would any MP3. In fact, with our feeds you don't even need podcast software. Just click the feed link and download the show you want directly.
If you decide you want to listen to a show every time it comes out, you might consider using a podcasting client. Think of it as Tivo for Internet audio. You subscribe to content you want by visiting the web site and getting the podcast URL. Your podcast software automatically downloads any new shows and copies them to your MP3 player. There's always something new and interesting to listen to and you never have to check the web to see when a new show is available.
Visit Wikipedia for more information about podcasting.
You'll find a directory of available podcasts and podcasting software at ipodder.org.
TWiTcasts
We offer the TWiT shows in a variety of different formats.
Since episode 12, our primary feed has been served courtesy of AOL Radio and is very fast and reliable. It delivers high-quality 64kbps mono MP3 files of the show automatically every week.
If you use iTunes, Podnova, ODEO, or iPodderX, you can subscribe just by clicking the appropriate chicklet below:
To subscribe manually using other podcasting clients like ipodder and Doppler paste the following address into their subscribe dialogs:
http://feeds.feedburner.com/twit
BitTorrent
For formats other than 64kbps MP3 you'll need to use BitTorrent. BitTorrent is fast and reliable but requires a BitTorrent aware client like iPodderX or Podnova. You can also use Azureus with the RSS plug-in.
Click below to add the high-quality MP3 of TWiT via BitTorrent to your subscriptions on iPodderX or Podnova:
Our torrents are available in four delicious flavors. Pick a BitTorrent feed from our BitTorrent tracker or if you're using one of the aforementioned BitTorrent aware podcasting clients you can paste in one of the following URLs:
64 Kbps MP3:
http://feeds.feedburner.com/twit-hib
32 Kbps MP3:
http://feeds.feedburner.com/twit-lob
Bookmarkable AAC (for iPods):
http://feeds.feedburner.com/twit-aacb
Ogg Vorbis:

Work Safe/Firewall Safe
Some listeners have reported that their workplace blocks MP3s and/or BitTorrent traffic (a number of these are serving in the US Armed Forces in Iraq). If you're having trouble getting TWiT via subscription, download shows directly from www.leoville-downloads.com. These are zipped 64kbps MP3s using http over port 80.
